Ashish Nehra retired from all forms of cricket after playing the first T20I of the 3-match series against New Zealand on Wednesday, 1 November 2017. He bowled the last over against New Zealand in this match that India won by 53 runs. His cricket career spanned a bit more than 18 years.

Even the former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar gave a heartwarming retirement message to Nehra by telling Nehra as an honest fast bowler and one of the nicest guys in international cricket.
India skipper Virat Kohli said that Nehra has worked very hard so he deserves this grand farewell with the crowd cheering him. Kohli recalled about a photo in which Nehra gave an award to young Kohli long time back. At that time in 2003, Kohli was 13 and was struggling to find a place in the school team.
Nehra was born on 29 April 1979 in Delhi. He made his Test debut against Sri Lanka at Colombo in 1999. His ODI debut came against Zimbabwe at Harare in 2001. Nehra has also proved to be an effective bowler in the IPL in which he played for five different teams.
His best ODI bowling spells include 6/23 vs England in 2003 and 6/59 vs Sri Lanka in 2005.
